When Freed to Run™ began in 2017, my goal was to raise only $50,000 for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA), which helps provide legal services for the low-income community in northeast Florida. Through an outpouring of donations and sponsorships, I was able to raise nearly $70,000.

With each year, we’ve found more participants, more coverage, and more generosity outpouring from our community and sponsors, allowing us to reach the amazing and growing number we’re at today - 2.25 million dollars!

This year, we’re doing it again.

Freed to Run™ is now a 24 hour challenge, with teams joining me and covering the distance by taking turns throughout the day. And now, we are not only endowing a medical-legal partnership to help pediatric patients, but we are creating a new endowment effective 2023 that we are calling “Shelter For Elders”, an endowment to help indigent seniors struggling with housing, healthcare, and consumer scams that all to often target our most vulnerable elders.
